On November 12, 2003, Mrs Proserfina E. Cerna, Teacher in Charge of San Jose National High School, Antipolo City, submitted a letter-request to Hon. Mayor Angelito C. Gatlabayan, City Mayor, thru Hon. Antonio O. Masangkay, Chairman Committee of Education, a copy for the opening of Tagbac National High School, Barangay San Jose in time for the start of classes for School Year 2004-2005.
The said letter-request was referred for appropriate action, to the Committee on Education. Through resolution No. 2003-273 duly adopted by the City Council, favorably recommending the grant of the said request and the naming of the school as Marcelino M. Santos National High School instead of the original proposal of Tagbac National High School, which is a fitting tribute to the former Mayor of Antipolo, Hon.Marcelino Martinez Santos who served for two (2) terms from 1927 to 1931 and 1935-1939.
On June 2004 the school was opened to the locals of Tagbac and other neighboring sitios and started its first year of operation bearing the name Marcelino M. Santos NHS. Initially, it has four classroom and four teachers with an OIC; Mr. Rodolfo Gonzalez handling 3 sections of 155 first year students. On October 2004, Mr. R. Beltran was assigned as the new Teacher in-Charge of the school. For S.Y. 2005-2006 another Teacher in- Charge was assigned to MMSNHS in the person of Mr. Ronaldo I. Ata whom was promoted later into principal 1. Presently, he is still managing the school affairs and the proponent of most projects and programs initiated in school. Since then, the number of students increased from 155 to 1,024 and the first graduation was held at the school quadrangle on April 1, 2008 at 8:00am with 130 graduates.
Mr. Ata ,who supervised the entire functions of the school will be replaced by another caliber of a principal in the name of Mrs. Rowena B. Sison this 2nd half of the school year, the former principal of Calawis National High School. Under her helm, the entire population of Marcelino envisioned that she will deliver the same dedication and concern that the former provided, that is- for the greater good of the students.
